Permabond 2K – Metal, Glass, Plastic And Composite Materials Primer

Permabond 2K Primer is a specialized surface primer designed to prepare metal, glass, plastic, and composite substrates for high-performance bonding. It functions as an adhesion promoter that significantly increases bond strength and durability, particularly in harsh environmental conditions. A unique feature of this primer is its ability to provide a visual indication of surface “bondability”—allowing users to see if a surface is properly “wetting out” or if further preparation is required.
In addition to improving adhesion, Permabond 2K Primer helps protect metal surfaces against corrosion. It is a two-part system that, once mixed, has a limited pot life of 8 hours, making it highly effective for batch processing in industrial manufacturing. The primer is particularly beneficial for improving the long-term durability of bonds on abraded aluminium, as shown by its superior performance in salt spray ageing tests.
2K Primer is ideal for demanding industrial and marine applications where long-term structural integrity is vital. It features a very low viscosity of 1 mPa.s, enabling easy application via spray or wipe. Once applied, it must dry thoroughly before bonding, ensuring the substrate is perfectly primed for the subsequent adhesive application.
