Product Description

Stycast HD 3561 is a two-component, epoxy hardener system designed for potting and encapsulation applications where rigid or flexible wire leads extend from the encapsulated component. It is specifically recommended for applications requiring high impact strength, as it helps to eliminate the microscopic cracking often caused by lead flexing. This hardener is engineered to provide strong adhesion to specialised substrates such as vinyl and neoprene, ensuring long-term mechanical reliability in demanding environments.

The system is used in combination with various resin variants, including filled and unfilled versions, to offer tailored characteristics such as low shrinkage and resistance to thermal shock. Depending on the specific formulation, mix ratios typically range between 100:10 and 100:30 by weight, with a workable pot life of around 80 minutes to support controlled processing. Manufacturing teams can adapt the curing profile to their needs, with options for a room temperature cure over 24 hours or an accelerated heat cure, such as 3 hours at 60℃.

Once cured, the system exhibits exceptional mechanical and electrical performance, with a Shore D hardness that can reach up to 95 and a compressive strength of up to 200 N/mm². It acts as a high-performance insulator, delivering a dielectric strength of up to 1,800 volts/mil and a volume resistivity of 2×10^16 ohm-cm. These properties, combined with controlled thermal expansion and exotherm behaviour, make it a versatile choice for structural integrity in large castings or electronic assemblies with complex geometries.

  • Two-part.
  • Low coefficient of thermal expansion.
  • Minimal shrinkage.
