ABS-NBSE
Product Description
ABS-NBSE is a range of thin, flexible, magnetically loaded silicone elastomer absorbers specifically tuned for single-frequency resonance. Capable of being optimised by adjusting the thickness (typically between 1 and 5 mm) and chemical composition, a precise reflectivity level of -20 dB at a discrete frequency between 1 and 26 GHz can be achieved.
This silicone-based resonant absorber provides a high-performance solution for space and high-temperature applications where low outgassing is a requirement. Unlike the urethane version, the silicone material is designed to withstand service temperatures up to 170°C and is typically installed using a liquid adhesive to ensure the thinnest possible bonding line, preventing the detuning of the absorber’s performance.
Typical applications include the lining of metal structures such as ships’ masts and aircraft, RCS (Radar Cross Section) reduction, and the treatment of specific frequencies in antenna feeds. With a Shore A hardness of 75 and a density of 2.5 to 4.2 g/cc, it is frequently used in free-space applications to suppress unwanted reflections at a targeted frequency.
- Sharp focus: ABS-NBSE absorbers zero in on specific microwave frequencies (1-32 GHz) for pinpoint absorption.
- Magnetically tuned: achieve targeted absorption through magnetic loading and single-frequency design.
- Versatile installation: choose self-adhesive backing for convenience or liquid adhesive for permanence.
- High-temperature/low-outgassing: consider silicone absorbers for these environments (alternative to ABS-NBSE).
- All thicknesses are nominal.
