Stycast PC 40-UMF

Stycas PC 40-UMF is a single-component, urethane acrylate conformal coating designed to protect electronic assemblies on various substrates, including metals, ceramics, and glass-filled epoxies. Supplied as a clear, VOC-free liquid, it requires no mixing, which simplifies the manufacturing process and ensures consistent application. The coating is formulated for high-speed production, as it rapidly gels and immobilises upon exposure to UV light to provide an immediate seal across the surface of the assembly.

The material utilizes a dual-cure mechanism to ensure full protection even in shadowed or hard-to-reach areas of a board. A fast UV activation is typically achieved in around 10 seconds at 300 to 600 mW/cm2, followed by a secondary moisture cure that occurs over 2 to 3 days at room temperature for any material not directly exposed to the light source. With a nominal viscosity of 250 mPa-s and a specific gravity of 1.08, the coating allows for consistent coverage across complex assemblies while operating reliably across a temperature range of -40℃ to 135℃.

Once fully cured, the coating provides durable physical and electrical protection, meeting IPC-CC-830 standards. It reaches a Shore D hardness of 80 and delivers strong electrical insulation, featuring a dielectric strength of 420 volts/mil and a volume resistivity of 3.5×10^16 ohm-cm. Additionally, the material demonstrates low outgassing characteristics and a dielectric constant of 2.75, making it an ideal choice for high-reliability applications where environmental stability and signal integrity are essential.
