EDAG 915 E&C

Loctite EDAG 915 E&C is a highly conductive, silver-flake, thermoplastic coating specifically engineered to provide thin, smooth, and flexible conductive paths on a wide variety of substrates, including plastics. This one-component silver ink is designed for applications where high conductivity and ease of use are paramount, such as sensing marks on magnetic tape, capacitor terminations, and electroforming on non-conductors. It is particularly valued for its ability to accept direct soldered connections in certain configurations, bridging the gap between printed circuitry and traditional components.

In its uncured state, the coating contains 62% solids and has a low viscosity of 22 to 32 seconds (measured with a BS 4 cup), making it suitable for application by brush, dipping, or spray. When applied by spray, it is typically diluted up to 50% by weight with MIBK or n-butyl acetate to achieve a uniform finish. The material is formulated for rapid processing, offering an air-dry capability that allows for efficient handling in high-volume production of UHF reflectors, resistor terminations, and electrostatic screening.

Once dried, EDAG 915 E&C forms a resilient conductive film with an exceptionally low sheet resistivity of ≤0.015 Ohm/sq at a 25µm thickness. While it dries at room temperature, heating the coating to between 100°C and 150°C before use can significantly improve adhesion and hardness, particularly for applications involving acidic or hot electroplating baths. The product maintains its integrity across various industrial environments, ensuring reliable electrical signals for magnetic recording switching and high-performance electronic shielding.
