Loctite EDAG PE 409 is a high-performance, silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl), conductive ink specifically engineered for medical sensing applications. This grey, thermoplastic paste features a precise 9:1 silver to silver chloride ratio, making it an ideal material for disposable medical devices such as ECG electrodes and bio-medical sensors. Designed, for excellent adhesion to polyester films, providing the mechanical flexibility and chemical stability required for skin-contact diagnostic tools.

In its undried state, the ink has a solids content of 75% and a viscosity of 25,000 mPa·s, formulated for easy printability and extended screen residence time. It is compatible with monofilament polyester screens and can be applied using manual, semi-automatic, or high-speed reel-to-reel equipment. While it can be dried immediately, the recommended drying cycle is 30 minutes at 90°C or 15 minutes at 120°C in a conventional air-circulated oven, though it is also compatible with infrared (IR) drying systems.

Once dried, EDAG PE 409 forms a highly conductive layer with a sheet resistance of ≤0.035 Ohm/sq at a 25µm thickness. It meets ANSI/AAMI standards for pre-gelled ECG disposable electrodes when used with the appropriate gel, ensuring reliable signal transmission and biocompatibility. The material is supplied ready-to-use and should be handled with non-metallic equipment to prevent contamination of the silver chloride content, ensuring the long-term integrity of the medical sensor.
