Shielded Enclosures
Keeping devices safe
It is safe to assert that the mobile phone is among the most widely used and influential tools in modern history. While these devices excel in facilitating seamless communication from virtually anywhere at any time, their connectivity is a double-edged sword. Modern mobile technologies now enable unauthorised remote access, allowing third parties to “remote wipe” a device’s data in seconds.
This capability poses significant challenges for digital forensic investigators and law enforcement agencies who must preserve crucial evidence for legal proceedings. The significance of high-performance Shielded Enclosures becomes apparent here as their specialised design effectively creates a “Faraday Cage,” preventing all external electromagnetic interference (EMI) and cellular signals from reaching the device inside, thereby locking it in its current state.
Diverse Applications for Interference-Free Environments
While forensic security is a primary use case, Portable Shielded Enclosures are indispensable across a wide range of technical industries. They provide a controlled, RF environment essential for:
- Design Verification & Prototyping: Testing how a new circuit behaves without the “noise” of local Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or cellular towers.
- Pre-Compliance Testing: Identifying potential EMI issues in-house before committing to expensive third-party laboratory certification.
- Medical Isolation: Shielding sensitive and susceptible medical equipment from ambient interference in hospital environments to ensure patient safety.
- Secure Communications: Creating a localised chamber where sensitive data can be discussed or processed without the risk of electronic eavesdropping.
- Production Line Measurements: Ensuring quality assurance (QA) by testing wireless products in a repeatable, isolated environment on the factory floor.
Standard and Custom Enclosure Solutions
At HITEK, we recognise that testing environments vary from small desktop setups to large-scale industrial rigs. To meet these diverse needs, we offer both standard and bespoke solutions.
The 8000T Series Benchtop Tent
For those requiring a flexible and quick-to-deploy solution, we offer the 8000T Series Benchtop Tent. Measuring 1.22 x 0.61 x 0.61 meters, this conductive fabric enclosure provides a high degree of shielding in a portable format.
Recognising that testing is often a temporary requirement, these tents are available for loan for specified periods. This allows you to fulfil your application needs or complete a testing cycle without the capital expenditure of a permanent installation. Please note that while we stock standard benchtop sizes, we can facilitate enquiries for much larger, walk-in enclosures upon request.
Advanced Forensic Interrogation: The IGOS Enclosure
For the highest level of security and interaction, we introduce the IG-460B Shielded Enclosure. This portable chamber is a specialised “Forensic Lab in a Box,” designed to prevent even the most persistent EMI and RFI from reaching a handheld device.
The IG-460B features an internal camera system that allows the user to view the device screen via an external display unit. Most importantly, it is equipped with shielded gloves on the front panel. This allows a technician to effortlessly interrogate a touch-screen device, scroll through messages, and extract data manually all while the device remains safely isolated from external threats of data deletion.
