Stycast ES 4512

Stycast ES 4512 is a two-component, epoxy casting system designed for the potting and encapsulation of electronic assemblies. It is a flexible, cost-effective material formulated with a non-abrasive filler, making it an ideal choice for both automated machine dispensing and manual mixing processes. Supplied as a black resin and tan hardener, the system is designed for room temperature curing and provides excellent handling characteristics for general-purpose electronic protection.

In its uncured state, the material has a mixed viscosity of approximately 19,000 mPa-s and a density of around 1.55 g/cm³. It offers a convenient 100:100 mix ratio by weight, with a working pot life of about 60 minutes for a 200 g mass. While the system typically gels in roughly 5 hours at room temperature, the process can be accelerated with heat to reach a full cure in approximately 3 hours at 60℃, maintaining a controlled peak exotherm of about 90℃ during the reaction.

Once cured, the compound delivers a unique combination of flexibility and mechanical strength, featuring a Shore D hardness of 88 and a tensile strength of 18.4 N/mm². It is engineered for stability with a low shrinkage rate of 0.1 percent and a glass transition temperature of 50℃, ensuring it can absorb mechanical stress without compromising the assembly. Electrically, it provides a high dielectric breakdown strength of 44.7 kV/mm and a volume resistivity of 5.9×10^14 ohm-cm, offering reliable insulation for components that require long-term electrical and physical stability.
