Stycast CC 8555

Stycast CC 8555 is a single-component, conformal coating designed to provide durable protection for electronic assemblies exposed to moisture and harsh chemical environments. As a clear urethane acrylate material, it requires no mixing, which simplifies application and ensures a streamlined production process. This coating is highly versatile, offering excellent compatibility with common solder masks, no-clean fluxes, and various substrates including metals, ceramics, and glass-filled epoxies.

The material utilises an advanced dual-cure system to ensure complete protection across complex board geometries. It rapidly gels and immobilises under UV exposure—typically requiring about 60 seconds under a medium-pressure mercury vapor light—followed by a secondary moisture cure over approximately 72 hours. This moisture-reactive phase is critical for reaching “shadowed” areas beneath components where UV light cannot penetrate, ensuring no part of the assembly is left vulnerable.

Once the curing process is complete, Stycast CC 8555 provides a flexible yet resilient shield with a Shore A hardness of 77 and a safe operating temperature range of –40°C to 130°C. It delivers a balance of mechanical toughness and flexibility, evidenced by a tensile strength of 10.4 N/mm2 and 31% elongation, which helps the assembly withstand thermal expansion and physical vibration.

Electrically, the coating acts as a high-performance insulator with a dielectric strength of 27.5 kV/mm and a volume resistivity of 1.46×10^14 ohm-cm. It is specifically formulated for high-reliability industrial use, meeting stringent industry standards such as IPC-CC-830, UL 746E (with an RTI of 130°C), and a UL 94 V-0 flammability rating. These certifications, combined with its excellent wettability and void-free coverage, make it a premier choice for protecting sensitive electronics against environmental degradation.
