Catalyst 27-1

LOCTITE CAT 27-1 is a brown, modified aromatic amine hardener engineered for applications requiring high-temperature stability and exceptional chemical resistance. Designed as a non-staining alternative to Catalyst 11, this curative excels in high-performance environments, maintaining its physical strength at continuous operating temperatures of up to 175°C. Its robust formulation ensures that encapsulated electronic assemblies remain protected against harsh chemicals and mechanical stress, making it a benchmark choice for demanding industrial and electronic potting tasks.

A primary advantage of CAT 27-1 is its generous two-hour pot life, which provides significant flexibility for complex or large-scale assembly operations. While it requires an elevated temperature cure (4 hours at 120°C) this ensures a dense, high-strength thermoset matrix. It is important to note that this catalyst is incompatible with certain products, such as STYCAST 2057 or calcium carbonate-filled resins; specifically, STYCAST 2850FT Blue should be avoided due to potential reactions with the blue pigment. For such cases, Catalyst 28 is the recommended alternative to ensure consistent and reliable curing performance.
