Catalyst 59

Henkel Catalyst 59 is a liquid curing agent specifically engineered for use with the silver-filled, silicone-based adhesive LOCTITE Ablestik 59C (formerly known as Eccobond59C). As a specialized accelerant, it initiates the chemical cross-linking of the base resin to create a high-performance, electrically conductive elastomer. This system is designed for high-reliability applications requiring a thixotropic consistency and a service temperature range that remains stable from -55°C to +260°C.

To achieve its specified properties, Henkel dictates a precise mixing ratio of 2 parts catalyst to 100 parts resin by weight. Once integrated, the adhesive requires a heat-curing cycle—standardly 6 hours at 150°C—to reach its full mechanical strength and low volume resistivity of approximately 0.002 Ω-cm. The resulting bond is highly flexible and maintains excellent adhesion to various substrates, making it ideal for RF shielding and components subject to significant thermal expansion.

Due to its chemical composition, Catalyst 59 is classified as a hazardous material and must be handled according to strict safety protocols.
