Catalyst 28

Catalyst 28 is a brown, modified aromatic amine, hardener developed as a versatile, non-staining alternative to Catalyst 11. Engineered for high-performance applications, it maintains exceptional physical strength and chemical resistance even at continuous service temperatures of 175°C. This curative is specifically designed to be compatible with a broad range of resins, including STYCAST 2850FT Blue and various calcium carbonate-filled products, ensuring a reliable and stable cure where other aromatic amines might react unfavourably.

This material is particularly well-suited for large-scale industrial potting and encapsulation due to its extended pot life of 2.5 to 3 hours, which provides ample time for degassing and complex assembly. While it requires an elevated temperature cure schedule of 4 hours at 120°C to reach full mechanical properties, the resulting thermoset matrix offers superior protection against environmental and thermal stress. With its combination of a long work life and high-temperature integrity, CAT 28 is a dependable solution for a wide variety of STYCAST and ABLESTIK resin systems.
