Introducing a Shielding Material Proven to have Antiviral Properties
21st May 2020
As the Covid-19 virus began to spread Worldwide, our key partner, Statex investigated how their product could assist in the protection against the virus. Tests have been carried out by Hohenstein Laboratories GmbH & Co. KG and Eurovir Hygiene-Labor GmbH to test the copper fabric's resistance to bacteria and viruses. The results were extremely positive, after only 7 minutes (first possible test time for a valid result) no residues of the tested Bovine Corona Virus were detectable. In comparison, it has been reported that Coronavirus can remain active on surfaces for up to 72 hours. Statex has now launched a pack of self-adhesive pads that can be attached to door and window handles (as well as any other areas used to operate a door or equipment). The pack includes a pair of pads (80mm x 100mm) along with a set of comprehensive installation instructions, and a door-knob hanger card.

June's 20 Year Work Anniversary
12th July 2019
This week mark’s a special work anniversary for one of our employees. June Wright has been working for HITEK for 20 years. Previously working with HITEK’s founders, Reg Shuttleworth and Ed Nixon at Emerson and Cuming for eight years, June built up her product knowledge and customer service skills. When Emerson and Cuming closed, June decided to raise her family and joined HITEK in 1999. When June first started she used to quote standard parts. Now her job focus is on processing orders, liaising with customers and our production team to ensure orders are processed in a timely manner. When asked, June said, “I enjoy my job, it has changed a lot over the years. I used to take the typewriter home at night to type the certificates of conformance as they were done by hand not like now when they are automatically printed on the delivery note!” HITEK would like to say thank you to June for her commitment to the company and as a sign of recognition, our MD presented June with an engraved carriage clock to celebrate the occasion.
