We’re proud to share that one of our employees was awarded the Higher Apprentice of the Year Award at North Lindsey College’s Annual Apprenticeship Awards Ceremony, which took place on Thursday 7th March during National Apprenticeship Week.
Mark Hatfield, our Operations Manager was presented the award by Michael “Eddie the Eagle” Edwards. Eddie became the first British ski jumper to compete at the Winter Olympic Games in Calgary 30 years ago. When Mark was asked how it made him feel to receive the award, he said, “Brilliant, it’s good to know that the hard work is paying off, and is being recognised.”
Alongside working at HITEK, Mark is completing a Level 5 Operations Manager Apprenticeship; it is a Level 5 diploma in Leadership and Management for the theory side and an Apprenticeship to demonstrate practical understanding from the workplace. This is assessed by the CMI (Chartered Management Institute) and by the end of the course; Mark will be a Chartered Manager.
Training and Development is important to us at HITEK, this course will help Mark in his role and give him a more in depth understanding of Leadership and Management and how to apply the theory in the workplace to drive improvements, motivate staff and inspire them too.
Mark was nominated for the award by his Course Tutor Cath Jackson, Training and Development Consultant – Leadership and Management. “Despite the operational challenges that Mark faces daily, he has a positive attitude to learning and invests time in his own personal development and his team members, he has recently encouraged his Team Leader to develop himself on the Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship. Mark can clearly see the link between learning and business impact,” commented Cath.
HITEK are proud to invest and support apprentices and work alongside the local College to ensure our employees can further their skills and develop in their role within the company. Training and Development of staff is an integral part of HITEK’s values.
