Cortec VpCI Emitters

Outstanding corrosion protection that provides convenience in use and cost-effectiveness.

Cortec manufacture a range of emitters which contain a number of special compounds called Vapour phase Corrosion Inhibitors (VpCI's). These Emitters are used to protect enclosed metal components from corrosion. This is done by placing one or more into the enclosure or container. Once in the container or enclosure the chemicals in the emitter vapourise and form a very fine layer of protection on the metals present within the environment. 

Emitters are a very cost effective way for any company using electronics, as the emitter contains chemicals which prevent the interaction of air and water moisture with the metal, preventing corrosion.

Below is an example of the emitters that HITEK can supply:

VpCI-101 is a foam emitter which protects critical, complex and expensive electronic systems and components from corrosion; by emitting a vapour which will form a molecular layers on the devices surface and protect said device from corrosion (even in adverse conditions such as salt, moisture and airborne contaminants). A VpCI-101 device protects up to 1 cubic foot (28 litres) in volume in an enclosed, non-ventilated control box, cabinet or bag. VpCI-101 provides long-term protection and can be applied during operational, shipping or storage stages of a device/components lifetime. Typical applications include aerospace or marine electronics, medical equipment, scientific and measuring equipment, electric motors, fuse or power boxes, hand-held battery-operated devices and any containers holding metals. Some excellent benefits of using VpCI-101 is that it is economical and convenient to use, will provide protection continuously for up to 24 months and it provide protections for a multitude of metals.

VpCI-105 is a plastic emitter which attaches to the interior of an enclosure and emits a vapour through it's breathable Tyvek® membrane which protects against corrosion. VpCI-105 can protect an enclosure - such as a non-ventilated cabinet, control box or tool box - up to 5 cubic feet (141.6 litres) in volume and can be used in packaging and storage of electrical equipment. Typical applications include aerospace or marine electronics, medical equipment, scientific and measuring equipment, electric motors, fuse or power boxes, hand-held battery-operated devices and any containers holding metals. A few features which should be considered regarding VpCI-105 is that - it is not only a cost-effective, easy-to-apply, space-saving solution - it does not interfere with electrical, mechanical or optical surface properties, it is safe to handle and can be used to protect a multitude of metals.

VpCI-111 is a plastic emitter which attaches to the interior of an enclosure and emits a vapour through it's breathable Tyvek® membrane; this vapour forms a molecular on the surface of metals and protects them from corrosion (even in adverse conditions such as salt, moisture, airborne contaminants and in high humidity). VpCI-111 can protect an enclosure - such as a non-ventilated cabinet, control box or tool box - up to 11 cubic feet (312 litres) in volume, offers long-term protection (24 months) and can be applied during operational, shipping or storage stages of a device/components lifetime. Typical applications include aerospace or marine electronics, medical equipment, scientific and measuring equipment, electric motors, fuse or power boxes, hand-held battery-operated devices and any containers holding metals. VpCI-111 is a cost-effective, easy-to-apply, space-saving solution that is safe to handle and can be used to protect a multitude of metals.

VpCI-130 series are a range of impregnated foams with multifunctional VpCI, desiccant and anti-static properties. The VpCI series removes the need for expensive and hard-to-handle rust preventatives; they are always ready to use - on a multitude of metals (Ferrous and non-ferrous) - and significantly reduces costs incurred by weight and labour. The Cortec VpCI-130 series meet MIL-PRF-81705D specifications for static dissipative minimising the risk of harming electro-sensitive components. The VpCI-130 series is chromate and nitrate free, will not affect the physical or chemical properties of an electronic component and are suitable for protecting printed circuit boards.
