Aircraft and vehicles Corrosion Protection

Motor vehicles are a particular challenge when it comes to preservation or storage for extended or even short periods such as over-wintering. Not only are there normal metal surfaces to protect but also items such as the engine lubrication and power steering systems, the coolant system, fuel system, brakes, air intakes and exhausts.

In working with the US military CORTEC has developed a range of materials and procedures that can now be used to benefit any user depending on the period of storage required.

For short term such as 3-6 months use of the Car Cocoon and some VCI 130 series pads and a few extra sprays may suffice.

For longer term there is a much more rigorous procedure, that includes use of additives for fuel, coolant, lubrication, electrical and transmission systems.

In all of these procedures a cover is normally the first line of protection this is generally one of the Corshield® range of products that is designed to protect the paintwork with the soft flock interior lining. This is is the typical material for the Car Cocoon. Add some VCI 130 series pads in the engine compartment the boot area and under the dashboard and the vehicle is relatively well protected for the short term. The Corshield® is weatherproof and will protect the vehicle outdoors.
