Thermal Adhesive Tapes
THERMATTACH® thermally conductive adhesive tapes are designed to replace clips and other fasteners when permanently attaching a heat sink to a component. This is achieved by using a carrier coated with an acrylic adhesive on both sides. This adhesive is thermally enhanced to improve the overall heat transfer characteristics.
The main products in the Thermattach® range are:
THERMATTACH® T404 tapes feature a polyimide film carrier and provide excellent electrical isolation.
THERMATTACH® T405 tapes feature an aluminium foil carrier for high thermal conductivity where electrical isolation is not required
THERMATTACH® T412 tapes feature a titanium diboride-loaded adhesive on an expanded aluminium (mesh) carrier for superior thermal performance.
These products are designed to work with ceramic or metal packages. For plastic packages consider the following product.
THERMATTACH® T411 tape consists of a high bond strength pressure-sensitive adhesive with an expanded aluminium mesh carrier layer. The mesh carrier allows the tape to conform to curved surfaces of plastic moulded IC packages, continued providing a high adhesive strength attachment for heat sinks. The high performance silicone PSA allows adhesion to silicone-contaminated plastics and other low energy surfaces.
A derivative of the Thermattach® product range is the T-Wing®, a low profile insulated copper strip complete with adhesive for attachment to the component. Details of all the products are below.
