Adhesives
HITEK supplies a range of Adhesives from Emerson & Cuming, Chomerics and Permabond and Bondmaster. These can be grouped conveniently into there categories
When considering the use of an adhesive several factors have to be considered:
1) What type of joint is being made: Co-axial, lap or butt joint?
2) What is the joint function?
3) What are the environmental conditions?
4) How long a cure is acceptable?
5) What materials are to be joined?
Answering the above questions will enable you to then narrow down the options:
Below is a brief description of the different types of Adhesives
Anaerobic
These require the presence of a metal surface and the absence of air. The surfaces must be close fitting.
CyanoAcrylates
These harden in seconds in the presence of surface moisture and cure extremely rapidly.
Epoxies
Epoxies come in one and two part forms one part epoxies require heat cure, two part epoxies can be cured at room temperature.
UV Cured Adhesives
These are single part materials that cure when exposed to sources of UV light, cure times of less that 1 second are possible. Silicones These comes in one part moisture cure and two part forms. They generally are used where the flexible nature of the cured material over a wide temperature range is required.
